Slow going...

I know, I know, I haven't posted in a while.  My Mom tells me this every day.  So, here are some updates for you:

My knitting...I can't lie, it has been struggling a bit.  The past couple weeks I have been busy with some other projects and just haven't had the time.  I miss it. Cherry should have been done by now.  Tangled Yoke is stalled after about an inch of progress.  My queue is bursting with projects I want to cast on for but haven't had a chance to. Argh.

Things are looking up though.  Enter...plane knitting.

My trip...I type this post from New York City.  I have been in the city for the last two days visiting friends and am headed to a conference tomorrow.  Every time I come I remember how much I like it here.  I love New York (not that show though--the show makes me want to throw up a little.)   I took my Tangled Yoke as my trip project.  I haven't been done a lot of knitting yet as I have been busy walking around town and eating a lot of food.  NYC has the best food.  Thankfully, you also walk everywhere.  Currently my feet are feeling the pain of that amount of walking.

The sewing machine...I know I said I was going to buy a machine, but that was until my Mom said she would lend me one of hers until she comes back to live in the states.  So when I visit Utah in October, I am bringing back with me a sewing machine.  Lounge pants here I come!!!  I will for sure keep you updated on that front.

Knitting Daily...most of you know by now that I work for Interweave and part of the time on Knitting Daily.  I don't really talk about it because this is my personal blog and I have never talked about other companies I have worked for on my blog so I don't see me doing much of that now.  But hey, the knit world is a small one and I had gotten some emails so, yes, that is me in Sandi's galleries-- I am the tall girl whose torso is way too long for most knitted samples.  And yes, it is super fun to be involved with such a cool project.

Well, I am off to do some knitting before bed.  Will write more when I get back.  Have a good week everybody!

State of the Union

I talked to a friend last week who basically told me that ever since I moved, I have been a bad blogger.  I hate to agree with her, but sadly, she is right.  I haven't posted as much, commented on posts, replied to my own comments, not knit as much, and just generally have not been as engaged.  It is not because I don't want to be, more because quite frankly, I have been a little overwhelmed by my life which sometimes causes me to shut down a bit in the areas that I can.  Does this happen to anyone else?  I feel like I am starting to shake out of it though--at very least the knitting has picked up.

As a catch up, here are some items I want to share with all of you:

I casted on for a new sweater...

 A Tangled Yoke Cardigan swatch

It dawned on me that I bought a bunch of tweed when I was in Canada last year that is an exact match for Rowan Felted Tweed.  I thought, why not test it out for one of my fav sweaters from the Fall IK.  I swatched, I got gauge, I casted on.  Yea!   Of course, I am still working on Cherry.  I finished the back and am half way up both the fronts.  So knitting progress is being made.

My sewing.  I was not able to finish the tote bag in class but the shell of it is done...

I sewed that!  I feel so powerful.  I guess I really need to buy a sewing machine now.  At least I do if I ever want to finish this bag.  And, there is the matter of some lounge pants...

I had no idea there were so many tall girls out there reading my blog.  Thanks for all the amazing suggestions on where I can go to buy long inseams.  Who knew I only needed to ask?  And for the record, I also feel for all the short girls out there who have to hem every pair of pants they buy.  It is just those average heighted girls that lead a charmed life. :)
