The knit that proves I am not so selfish after all
I know what you all think...that Erin sure loves to knit for herself. And it is true. I believe most people don't appreciate the time, effort, and love that goes into a hand knit. Most would be just as happy with a sweater from the Gap. So I don't knit for most people. Lucky for her (and me), Bri is not most people.

Bri is my baby sister. She is smart, fun, good, and wearing the Central Park Hoodie I knit for her. Bri loves anything with a hood. So I figured CPH was the perfect knit for her. Only problem, I love hoods too which means CPH was also a pretty perfect knit for me. It grew more and more difficult for me to embrace my generous nature as the sweater blossomed into its finished state. You see, more than any knit before it, this is a sweater I could see wearing all the time. It is just so wearable.

I love the cables (cabling without a needle=best idea ever) and the long ribbing on the bottom and the sleeves. It was really a easy and relatively fast knit. And so pretty. I should just make myself another one but I know myself and I think the boredom of repeating a knit would take away from the pleasure of having it. Must remind myself, giving is good.
Pattern: Central Park Hoodie
Source: Knitscene, Fall 2006
Yarn: Four Seasons "Classico", tweed taupe
Needles: US 8
Mods: I choose not to add buttons as I thought it was the kind of sweater that looks better open. Also, I knit the body of the sweater in the medium size and the sleeves in the smallest size and made the two fit when seeming. I liked giving her a more snug sleeve.
Easy, comfy, attractive, wearable, warm...what more could you want? I love this sweater. I hope Bri loves it but if she doesn't I would gladly welcome it back to my hands. Actually, that would be awesome if she didn't want it because then I would get my CPH back AND I would still get points for being so thoughtful and giving. Definitely a win-win. I think we should all tell Bri how gross it looks.

It's fantastic!
Your sister is a lucky woman (that is, until her big sister gets her drunk enough to pass out and steals it back... but you wouldn't do that, right? Right?)
I must get back to knitting, I'm missing it a lot- but there is just SO. MUCH. DUST. in the house. I just can't bear it.

Lucky sis!! Nice work and I can see why you want it back.

I need to make myself one of those. I don't blame you at all for wanting to steal it back!! :)

You're such a good sis. And I am such a thankful person that my sis can knit. And luckily, though a little time consuming, the CPH is an easy knit. Your first one turned out beautiful!

Erin,
You really ARE a great sister!!! All I knit for my sister is socks. And both of my daughters knit .. so I don't have to knit for them. The CPH turned out awesome. Now that you have had lots of practice it's time to make one for yourself.

I think the chances of you getting that sweater back are about zero. Better cast on for another one for yourself - it's wonderful!

Oh! Wow, it's gorgeous. You are so sweet, I could never give it away.

Great sweater. I like the deep ribbing too.
Those pictures are lovely - your sister looks so happy. Where was the photoshoot taken? The mountains are beautiful.

I wish I could lie, but I can't - the sweater looks great on her!!
It's good of you to be so generous!

This is beautiful. I'm sorry I can't lie!
I know the pain too well of knitting this 3 times - 1 for me and 2 for my sisters and I refuse to tell my other 2 sisters that I can knit!

sorry erin, but it looks fabulous on bri and she kinda looks like she likes it too. ah well, better luck next time. that's what you get for being so generous ;0)

Oh yes very horrible. Well, I can't lie for long. It looks great and I agree about that very wearable part. The pictures make me want to snuggle up in it myself.

Oh, it looks terrible on her. You'd be doing her a favor by taking it back.

Erin,
it is lovely ~maybe this should become your standard gift sweater! I need a gift and I love hoodies~

It's so lovely on her! And what a lucky sis, to live in Boulder! (That's Boulder, right? I think I recognize it from a weekend we did there this summer. Just a lovely place.)

Wow, you are a nice sister. I wouldn't have given that to my baby sis - it definitely would have stayed with me! ha! (Pays her back for all the times she took my clothes, shoes, etc.) Sisters! :)

Winning project, enjoyable knit and happy recipient! What could be better (well, 2...one for you as well)!

It looks great on her. Maybe you could knit a few other things in between and then make one for yourself? I love mine and wear it more than I thought I would, when I was knitting it. It's a great, go-with-anything sweater.

you are such a wonderful sister to knit your lil sis such a beautiful sweater!! Great job, and it looks wonderful on her

I'm repeating a favourite knit right now, admittedly the first one was for me but I'm enjoying the knitting for a friend just as much so maybe you just need to make it for yourself first next time.
