I heart John Tesh

I have many guilty pleasures.  Things you would shake your head at in dismay if you heard.  Like how no one, I mean absolutely NO ONE should ever know about the *NSYNC concert I attended.  You see how if this got out people might look at me differently.  Like I wasn't cool or something.  And wouldn't that be a tragedy.

Well, I am going to admit to another gulity pleasure.  I love me some John Tesh.  Not his music or anything (you know from my above admission that my tastes run a bit more elegant) and not his hair (because it it BAD) but his radio show.  Intelligence for your life.  Have you heard it?  I have a couple easy listening stations programmed on my radio.  They are my go-to stations for when I get tired of NPR or more current radio and feel in the mood for something to chees-ily sing along to.  Like Kokomo or any Peter Cetera song.

So by chance one day, I stumbled upon John Tesh's show.  He is AWESOME.  The music he plays is pretty average but he imparts to his listeners nuggets of wisdom about life and love and health and work--interesting facts about our world to educate us and to make our lives better.  You know what?  I think he really means it.  He seems sincere--like he really wants to help people.  That John Tesh is a good man.

About a month ago I was driving home and was listening to a few minutes of his radio show.  He was talking about how when we are kids the years seem to stretch and be so full and when adults the years just fly by.  Haven't you felt this?  Anyway, Tesh tells us that the reason for this is that children have a lot of variety in their day-to-day activities.  As adults, we settle into routines.  Like we always drive to work the same way, eat the same breakfast, order the same meals, go home at the same time, etc.  Repetition and routine makes the day go faster.  John encouraged us to make small changes in our daily routine to shake things up if you will. I thought this was interesting so I am passing it all along to you.

My routine has been shaken up recently but not in ways I am really happy about.  Some good friends quit at work which is sad on two levels.  One, I will miss them, and two, there is a TON of work to do.  The added stress of it all has affected my knitting output.  Where I expected to show you a finished Venezia soon, it will now probably be another week.  But it is coming along and I am really excited for it to be done.  Not only will I have a beautiful sweater but then I can pick projects for my upcoming trip...did I mention I will be in Hong Kong in two weeks?!!!  Because I will.  Talk about shaking things up--I can't wait.

I guess change is not all bad.  So here's to changed routines and here's to John Tesh.

I will confess to standing in line way back when in order to meet the boys from New Kids on the Block and if any even asks, I will DENY, DENY, DENY ever admitting to this! Hope things fall back together soon! Hong Kong? Boy, am I ever envious!!!

Ha, you think 'N Sync was bad, how about I used to love Milli Vanilli! Yes, you know it's true, ooh, ooh, I love you. I totally loved them and was bummed when it turned out they really couldn't sing. I like that thought of shaking things up and not getting into a routine.

oh no this is almost as bad as the cheesy radio show you listened to in college ~something about being sleepless in salt lake? You are too cute~

I'm not touching that props-to-John-Tesh thing, but the Hong Kong news is sure exciting.

Yeah, we all have our guilty pleasures. Mine is Pink. Love her.

So, can you share what station it is you find Mr. Tesh's show? I wouldn't mind finding another alternative to NPR and Country Legends when those get tiresome, myself...

Sorry to hear about the extra work and stress. I assume your trip is business-related, so I hope you get a chance to kick back a little and have some fun. Seriously, talk about shaking things up. I'd love a good shake-up!

My dad is always sharing little John Tesh anecdotes he learns from listening to the radio show. My dad is pretty cool, so you are in good company!

I listen to JT once in awhile especially when I'm stuck in traffic on my home...oh wow hong kong! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun.

Well, I was going to suggest forcing yourself to find new ways to get to work, to take a new route each day for a week, no repeating allowed, but then I got to the bit about Hong Kong, and thought, heck! She don't need no routine shaker upper. I'm jealous.

About John Tesh, many people know a lot of things about life, but have been silenced by a media pooh-pooh in favor of the latest about Lindsay Lohan...still, you have to love the freedom we have to listen to the JT's of the world.

I thought it was the opposite - repetition and routine make the day go slower!! (I tend to loose track of time when I'm busy and rushing about.)

Also, kids are at school from the ages of 5 - 17 (approx) - now if THAT isn't repetitive I don't know what is! Rememer how the school year would draaaag on, yet holidays would be over in a flash?

Just sayin'... x

That is so funny about shaking up routine because I rarely ever drive the same way to a place twice. I always try to go a different way just to see different things. I never knew that was a profound thing to do!
